Opening on a new Killer Instinct character who is apparently Darkseid, the first teaser for Zack Snyder’s Justice League is, unmistakably, #TheSnyderCut. Dusting off his favorite Watchmen track, Snyder sets his latest washed-out collection of melodramatic tableaus, incessant slo-mo, and exploding men to the crooning of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” This is not Snyder; this is Snydest.
There’s is quite a bit of new footage in this two-and-a-half minute preview, though. It seems Joss Whedon really did gut this thing to give us what eventually hit screens. We’ll find out whether that was for better or worse next year, when Snyder’s cut hits HBO as a four-part, four-hour limited series.
