The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard trailer gives us another one of those

Cheap, derivative, and only marginally functional through solely the charm and star power of its leads, The Hitman’s Bodyguard was nonetheless very profitable. So now there’s this sequel: The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.

Taking the Lethal Weapon course of tossing more characters into the buddy action, now Salma Hayek is involved as Samuel L. Jackson’s hitman’s wife. Since the events of the first movie, Ryan Reynolds’ bodyguard has retired, but he’s suddenly pulled back into the action through whatever rationale this time has a bunch of goons trying to kill the hitman and his wife. Seems about right.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard hits theaters June 16, when a lot of people will be fully vaccinated and desperate to see some dumb movie in a cinema, consequently giving us The Hitman’s Wife’s Daughter’s Bodyguard in 2023.
