The Jump Street gang is getting back together for a Universal monster movie

Universal is adding another title to its growing list of movies about generic, royalty-free monsters that the studio still weirdly insists are their “thing.”

The studio is reportedly working on a new monster movie that will get Channing Tatum back together with Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Tatum will star in what’s being described as “a modern-day, tongue-in-cheek thriller inspired by Universal’s classic monster legacy.” It’s unclear which monster will be the focus, but presumably it’s whichever has the tightest bod.

The project brings Universal’s growing library of in-development monster titles to a dozen—among them, Wolfman, Dracula, Renfield, and the Avengers of the monster world, The Monster Mash. And it’s all because the studio made some spooky movies almost a century ago and are sadly clinging to those early goth years.
