The sad sand boy arrives in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trailer

The latest iteration of Dune is here—and now it’s more joyless and colorless than ever! Have a look with the new trailer for Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve’s take on the Frank Herbert sci-fi-fantasy classic.

Timothée Chalamet leads a stacked cast that includes Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, and Jason Momoa. Like all of Villeneuve’s work, it’s if nothing else elegantly shot, and the sandworm looks cool, but jeez, did we really need another somber cover of a popular song? And if so, why not Darude’s Sandstorm?

Anyway, the best part of this is how Momoa is again just his usual Aquaman good ol’ boy persona—himself to the point of recreating his excited approach meme. Everyone else is going to be flying little ships around, but Momoa is definitely just going to be jumping the dunes in a lifted jeep, yippin’ and hollerin’, a trail of empty tallboy cans in his wake.

“Sandworm!? AWOO RAIGHT!

Audiences can finally delight in spice talks when Dune hits theaters December 18.
