Our month of mulligans is continuing over in the DC Extended Universe. First we had Zack Snyder get his second shot at making his absurdly long Justice League, and now we’ve got a do-over of a different sort: the trailer for James Gunn’s soft reboot of Suicide Squad, The Suicide Squad. Now it seems to basically be an incredibly crass Guardians of the Galaxy, and it’s not a bad look at all. There’s an idiot shark-man eating people, a guy throwing polka dots, John Cena acting like a turd in a big, dumb helmet, Starro (the kaiju)—a lot to like here. Sure, not all the jokes land, but what is the Suicide Squad about if not letting a few die in the field?
