Twister reboot sucks in Tron: Legacy director

Twister featured two beloved, now deeply missed actors and, while not some kind of masterpiece, was about as good as a movie about tornado chasing is ever going to be. Nonetheless, it was a massive success in its day, so Universal is going to reboot it anyway.

Variety reports that Universal has started development on a new version of Jan de Bont’s 1996 disaster thriller. Joseph Kosinski is already signed on to direct, bringing with him his experience refurbishing on the likes of Tron: Legacy and the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick. The studio is meeting with writers, but given that Michael Crichton co-wrote the original, again, how exactly are they hoping to build a better Twister? If adding sharks didn’t work, what in the good goddamn would?
