Bad news for KJ Apa and Isabel May: They will no longer be respectively turning into water and animals.
Just two weeks since casting the pair in a movie about superhero duo the Wonder Twins, Warner Bros. has abruptly realized that this entire venture was a poor idea. The project, first announced earlier this year, has now reportedly been scrapped just two months prior to its production start.
While there’s no official reason for the cancellation, it would seem to be related to Warner’s recent buy-out by Discovery. Just weeks ago, Variety revealed that top brass of the combined company now dubbed Warner Bros. Discovery (clever!) were looking to overhaul DC Entertainment. It was said then that “Discovery believes that several top-shelf characters such as Superman have been left to languish and need to be revitalized.”
So it’s not much of a leap to imagine they’d shut down the movie about an obscure, extraterrestrial brother-sister duo who began as ‘70s cartoon characters, own a monkey named Gleek, and turn into either water or an animal by fist-bumping and saying, “Wonder Twin powers—activate!” Sort of a no-brainer, really.
