Artemis Fowl finally hits the screens in Disney’s first trailer

Hollywood’s latest attempt at launching a young-adult fantasy franchise is here. Have a look with this first teaser trailer for Artemis Fowl, Disney’s adaptation of the bestselling book series of the same name.

The film comes as the latest evidence that Kenneth Branagh is done screwing around with Shakespeare ever since he’s seen that Thor money. He directs, with newcomer Ferdia Shaw starring in the title role as a pre-teen genius from a long line of criminal masterminds. While most 12-year-olds would use their criminal acumen to hijack Fortnite skins, young Artemis takes his on a trip to rescue his father—sending him on a journey to meet subterranean fairies and, seemingly, do some Men in Black cosplay.

Artemis Fowl hits theaters next August. But how long until Branagh figures out that changing the race of Artemis’s Eurasian manservant actually makes him a little more uncomfortably problematic…?
