The hardest-working man in eccentric fantasy universes has just lined up his latest project. According to Deadline, Taika Waititi has made a deal with Apple to co-write and direct the pilot for a series adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 cult classic, Time Bandits.
The original Time Bandits saw a boy team up with some short time-travelers on an adventure through history—both real and fictional—while on the run from David Warner’s Evil. The group’s various stops through time and space actually make the film a pretty solid candidate for serialization—and with Waititi putting it together, this should be one to watch. Or at least would be one to watch, if one were willing to shell out for yet another streaming service.
