Weekend Box Office: Hunter Killer can’t compete against things that aren’t Gerard Butler movies

It seems the nation’s many Butler-Heads (aka Gerardites) failed to come out for Hunter Killer. Over the weekend, the submarine thriller (aka the only new wide release hitting theaters) fell short of even its modest expectations, coming in fifth with around $6.7 million. Sorry, Ger-lers. That left the top four untouched for the weekend: Halloween kept the top spot, followed by A Star Is Born, Venom, and Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween. But watch out post-Halloween next week, spooky films, because, oh… The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Tyler Perry’s Nobody’s Fool will just thud into theaters.
