Last Blood, the title of Sylvester Stallone’s latest Rambo outing, would seem to suggest a finality; that after five films, four decades, and over 500 murders (and that’s not even counting Last Blood), John Rambo was ready to hang up his little headband and make peace.
But like the memories of war, Rambo is a blood-soaked horror that will seemingly linger with us until death. Or at least until Stallone’s.
Speaking about Last Blood at Cannes (via), Stallone suggested he may continue this increasingly-gory, ever-more-asinine franchise for as long as audience will continue stomaching them.
“Let me just say something about the ‘last’ of anything,” he said. “I thought Rocky III was the last, so I don’t know anything. If it works, I’ll just keep going, because I enjoy it so much.”
Rambo: Last Blood hits theaters September 20. Then it’s on to Laster Blood.
