Stephen King’s ‘Salem’s Lot is getting James Wan’s remake

It seems Stephen King’s abrupt renaissance of royalty checks is continuing to flourish.

King’s latest tale to suddenly get a big studio purchase? ‘Salem’s Lot, the 1975 horror novel about a writer returning to his small Maine (obviously) hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot, only to find it infested with Nosferatus. New Line has reportedly just purchased the film rights, setting James Wan to produce and his Conjuring spin-off series (and It series) writer Gary Dauberman to pen the script.

The story has already twice been adapted for the small screen, first by Tobe Hooper in 1979, and more recently in a 2004 TNT adaptation starring a moody Rob Lowe. But as you can see from the ’70s still above, this is at least exciting news for ‘Salem’s dentists.
