The hook-handed man who is not the pedophile sailor of Neverland is back with the trailer for Candyman!
Set in Cabrini-Green projects of the original Candyman, the Jordan Peele-produced “spiritual successor” sees the neighborhood feeling the sting of both gentrification and so many bees. Rising star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as an artist trying to bring up the area but also bringing up the specter of Tony Todd when he’s seemingly possessed by—you guessed it—CANDYMAN.
Despite the update, “Candyman” still isn’t pronounced like “Goldman” or “Silverman” though, so that’s annoying. If it’s one word, just go with it.
Anyway, we’ll see if that or anything else gets sorted out when Candyman hits theaters June 12.
