Alfonso Cuarón heads back to grounded Mexico with the gorgeous Roma trailer

After following Y Tu Mamá También with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Children of Men, and Gravity, Alfonso Cuarón has returned to small-scale Mexican drama for Roma. Featuring a cast of unknowns and based on the writer-director’s own childhood, the film focuses on a Mexico City family’s struggles in the late ’70s—without even a lick of magic or space or apocalyptically low birthrates. But, photographed entirely in black and white (in part by Cuarón himself), dang does it look nice. It premieres in August before hitting select theaters and Netflix later this year.
