Crashing through a Blockbuster Video and later punching a quite elderly woman in the face, Captain Marvel makes one thing quite clear in her trailer debut: she absolutely hates anything in the nineties that’s just about ready to die. The specifics of her powers and alien origins—and the fact that the old lady is probably a shape-shifting alien herself—aren’t yet touched on here, but worry not: it’s promised we’ll indeed “discover what makes her a hero.” Brie Larson stars alongside Sam Jackson (digitally de-aged into The Negotiator era); Jude Law and Clark Gregg (those two de-aged with little toupées); Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Gemma Chan, and Lee Pace (those four in alien makeup); and Lashana Lynch (just her).
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel will undoubtedly fall within the satisfactory range all these Marvel movies hit when it arrives March 8, 2019.
