Aubrey Plaza, Jemaine Clement get weird in An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn trailer

Giving off definite vibes of 2009’s unfortunate Gentlemen Broncos—and not just because of the dated oddball leading role for Jemaine Clement—An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn is Jim Hosking’s follow-up to The Greasy Strangler. That film was an assaulting, antagonistically off-putting comedy of the Tim and Eric variety, but Beverly Luff Linn looks inarguably more mainstream, from its cast to the relative cohesion of this trailer’s scenes. Aubrey Plaza stars alongside Clement, Emile Hirsch (was he not ousted for his assault conviction?), Craig Robinson, Maria Bamford, and, in one of his far-too-few parts outside the UK, Matt Berry. It should be… screwy, if nothing else.

Robinson’s grunts will resonate through homes and theaters alike when An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn hits cinemas and on-demand October 19.
