If you hoped Pee-wee’s next “big adventure” would be a heart-pounding life-or-death race that leaves you with an anxiety attack, you may be in luck!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paul Reubens has been shopping around a new, darker Pee-wee Herman film being called his Valley of the Dolls. Sources claim Pee-wee’s Big Holiday producers Judd Apatow and Netflix have both separately passed, but apparently the Pee-wee Herman Story script has now landed in the hands of Uncut Gems directors Josh and Benny Safdie, and it’s said they’re still considering it.
If it actually happens, the movie will also have one more bizarre twist: Pee-wee’s gonna get Irishman‘d. As Reubens explains it, he rightly feels that if Pee-wee starts to look like a man in his late 60s, it crosses a line in how already weird his naïve child-man comes across. So should he get the $15 million he wants to shoot this (half the budget of Big Holiday), $1.5 million is already being set aside for digital de-aging.
Sadly, that doesn’t leave enough to de-age Charlie’s mom from It’s Always Sunny back into The Most Beautiful Woman in Puppetland.
