Here’s The Little Mermaid‘s new Prince Eric

If the lead of A Dog’s Way Home left you thinking, “I would give up my fish body for legs and a human vagina for that guy,” you aren’t alone. British actor Jonah Hauer-King has reportedly signed on to join Halle Bailey (Ariel), Javier Bardem (King Triton), Melissa McCarthy (Ursula), and Daveed Diggs (Sebastian) in Disney’s latest sterile live-action translation, The Little Mermaid. Hauer-King will play Prince Eric, the character who is good looking and is a prince and… presumably has other characteristics? It didn’t really seem like it in 1989’s animated version, but we’ll see what else this guy can add to the role when the film hits theaters.

If you can’t wait, apparently a live-action version already aired on ABC just last week with The Little Mermaid Live!, a TV movie that kind of undercut the big-screen film by casting Moana‘s Auli’i Cravalho as Ariel, Queen Latifah as Ursula, SHAGGY as Sebastian, and John Stamos as Chef Louis, not Prince Eric, for SVU-related legal reasons. Maybe you can dig that up somewhere.
