Suddenly the hardest working, most ubiquitous man in showbusiness, Taika Waititi has just added two more fittingly-eccentric projects to his schedule.
The Jojo Rabbit Oscar-winner has reportedly made a deal with Netflix to write and direct a couple animated series based on Roald Dahl’s oft-adapted classic, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Both will expand on Dahl’s original text, one diving into book’s “the world and characters,” the other devoted entirely to the Oompa-Loompas.
Whatever backstory Waititi comes up with for Wonka’s little workers, one thing’s for sure: it’s gotta be better than Dahl’s actual Oompa-Loompa history…
