Who better to investigate a child abduction than… A CHILD? Checkmate, child abductors.
Maybe not, but it seems like a decent premise for Apple+’s new entry, Home Before Dark. Inspired by real-life nine-year-old journalist Hilde Lysiak, the series follows a fourth-grade reporter who goes hard-boiled Harriet the Spy, putting on a big yellow jacket to investigate a cold case involving a missing boy. That boy? Father Jim Sturgess’s childhood best friend! So talk about going all-out to earn your dad’s love. Probably could have gotten away with macaroni art at that age, Hilde.
