Michael Fassbender is getting his own Bond-style spy franchise

Well, Michael Fassbender swore he’d never play Bond, and it seems he was right. Instead he’s going to be in a different franchise about a cool, sexy, well-tailored, impossibly talented secret agent.

He’s reportedly made a deal to produce and star in Malko, launching a would-be franchise based around French author Gérard de Villiers’ long-running series of SAS spy novels.

Fassbender would play Malko Linge, who, according to Wikipedia, is an Austrian prince turned freelance CIA agent. Malko also “has an excellent memory and speaks several languages fluently [and] is very well-groomed, preferring to wear tailor-made alpaca suits.” He also apparently “carries an ultra-small gun,” which, come on; we’ve seen Shame.

Malko is said to be based largely on Check-Point Charlie, the 29th of, jeez, 200 of these books? If you want to be the most knowledgable Malk-Maid* in the theater, better get reading.

*May not actually be the term for Malko fans.
