
Given that California’s coronavirus caseload is still woefully on the rise, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has decided to hold off on packing every major player in Hollywood, elbow to elbow, into a single theater. They organization today announced that the Academy Awards will be pushed back from February 28 to April 25. And since hardly enough decent movies are even coming out to be awarded, they’ve extended the eligibility period, too. Normally closed at the end of the calendar year, now the window is open until the original planned show date. Unfortunately, by April, the tiny man statuettes-—the larval Oscar—will have reached full maturity, and it will be a grotesque sight. But the show must go on…
