As what’s certainly one of the worst burdens of his divorce with Jennifer Garner, now Ben Affleck and the giant phoenix on his back are forced to carry some of her load of inspirational, feelgood schlock (see: The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Miracles from Heaven). Have a look with the trailer for Finding the Way Back, this maudlin sports movie that sees Affleck redeeming himself through mentorship and so many tears.
Affleck stars as a former high school basketball phenom who years ago walked away from a full scholarship and the sport altogether, descending into alcoholism and ruining his marriage—seemingly for reasons of daddy issues. Now, he’s back at his alma mater and ready to coach the team into a weepy Hoosiers. This guy has truly FOUND THE WAY BACK!
Ben should feel deeply embarrassed when this thing finds its way to theaters March 6.
