More than seven years since Adam McKay, Will Smith, and Denzel Washington were attached to remake Uptown Saturday Night for some reason, an updated alternative has emerged. According to The Hollywood Reporter, now Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa will direct Kevin Hart in the re-imagining of the 1974 buddy comedy.
Like the original, the re-do will apparently see Hart and a friend on a “one crazy night” mission to recover a winning lottery ticket stolen from the duo.
Famuyiwa last directed an episode of The Mandalorian, the Star Wars spin-off set a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, back when and where buying lottery tickets wasn’t still a thing somehow.
