Green Lantern HBO Max series to see this guy as Guy Gardner

The role of Guy Gardner has been filled, and it unfortunately does not line up with our dream cast.

Multiple American Horror Story actor Finn Wittrock has reportedly scored a lead role in HBO Max’s Green Lantern series. He’ll star as Guy Gardner, the Green Lantern known for his obnoxious braggadocio and ginger bowl-cut.

The series is said to span decades and Green Lanterns, starting with closeted FBI agent Alan Scott’s Lantern of the ’40s and continuing to the likes of the 1984’s Gardner and more. It would be a promising approach were it not headed up by the absolute least promising creative team.

Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, who already took a big ol’ green fisted swing-and-a-miss with 2011’s Green Lantern, are writing and executive producing. Seth Grahame-Smith, whose Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Pride & Prejudice & Zombies proved you could tack a Halloween monster onto just about anything, is also on board as writer and executive produce—as well as showrunner.

With the Green Lantern Corps movie already long in the works with a script from inexplicable go-to comic book guys David Goyer (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Man of Steel, his finger in every other non-MCU superhero flick back to Blade) and Geoff Johns (Aquaman, fucking Green Lantern!!!), it’s now a race to see which Green Lantern creative team can first fail upward yet again.
