Jared Leto goes deeper into goth with the Morbius trailer

Touted as being from the studio that brought you Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Venom, here’s a trailer that, like only the last of that list, doesn’t involve Marvel Studios and looks completely terrible. It’s Morbius, the latest Spider-Man movie to not feature Spider-Man and also have a wretchedly late-’90s feel to the entire thing.

Jared Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a doctor with some vague blood disorder that forces him to the supernatural cure of becoming a “living vampire.” By becoming blood brothers with a bat waterfall feature or something. Doctor Who‘s Matt Smith plays Morbius’s friend who coincidentally has the same blood condition and is 100% going to become the same mirror-image villain every superhero origin movie has had since Iron Man.

Adria Arjona co-stars as sexy scientist Morbius’s equally sexy scientist fiancée, Jared Harris plays Morbius’s not that sexy mentor, and Tyrese Gibson apparently also turns up. But the most surprising supporting turn comes in this trailer’s stinger, when Michael Keaton shows up to very loosely turn this thing into the Spider-Man: Homecoming prequel no one wanted.

This lame-ass vampire comic book movie of 1998 that can’t even hold up to Blade hits theaters July 31.
