Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph to put on Southern accents for a Fox animated series

Fox has given a straight-to-series order to Bless the Harts, a series that is unfortunately not an extension of Amy Poehler and Adam Scott’s Hart to Hart intro remake. But some of Poehler’s old SNL friends are involved.

It’s said Bless the Harts will be an animated series to see (hear?) Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jillian Bell, and Ike Barinholtz as “a group of Southerners who are always broke as a joke, and struggling for the American dream of status and wealth. What they don’t realize is that they’re already rich, in friends, family and laughter.” It’s a pretty awful description best suited for a Hallmark original series, but hopefully it plays under the guidance of creator Emily Spivey, the SNL and Last Man on Earth writer who previously created the underrated (and similarly lame-to-describe) Up All Night. Regardless, Wiig’s Southern accent will hopefully make it worth everything.

Though it’s weird Fred Armisen isn’t involved, right?
