The European vacation sequel trope has come for Spider-Man. And so has Marvel’s most glass-dome-encased foe: Mysterio! Have a look with the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far from Home.
The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel sees Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, reconstituted from ill-feeling ash for reasons TBD, on a school trip abroad. There, he meets up with Nick Fury (similarly glued back together) and haunted by some wretched visions; namely, the waist-up, elemental golem CGI of Spider-Man 3. But are these Ghosts of Thomas Haden Church Past real? Or are they but illusions, created to make a false hero out of the handsome snow globe that is Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio?
We’ll find out when Spider-Man: Far from Home hits theaters July 5.
