Nicolas Cage is sticking with colorful, bonkers horror

It’s only been months since Mandy hit theaters, but already Nic Cage has found another lurid, batshit crazy horror-thriller to scream through. Bloody Disgusting reports that Cage has re-teamed with Mandy’s oddball-genre production company SpectreVision for The Colour Out of SpaceDust Devil director Richard Stanley’s first narrative feature since getting booted off 1996’s The Island of Dr. Moreau.

Based on an H.P. Lovecraft short story, the film is less funny take on the “wealthy New Yorkers move to the country for a real scare” setup of Beetlejuice. Per the synopsis:

“[Cage’s family, the Gardners] are busy adapting to their new life when a meteorite crashes into their front yard. The mysterious aerolite seems to melt into the earth, infecting both the land and the properties of space-time with a strange, otherworldly color. To their horror, the Gardner family discover that this alien force is gradually mutating every life form that it touches…including them.”

In summary, shit is going to get weird.
