Obi-Wan Kenobi has his director

Who will tell the story of what Obi-Wan did after he hacked all the limbs off his chum? Now we know!

Lucasfilm has officially tapped seasoned television director Deborah Chow to helm the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series set to follow the title character in his transition to changing his name to “Ben.”

Chow has worked on a number of acclaimed and not-as-acclaimed series, including Mr. Robot, Jessica Jones, Better Call Saul, and American Gods. Most relevantly, she also just got off heading up a couple episodes of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, where (according to Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy) she did “phenomenal work developing [those] characters.” Does this dork love Star Wars or what?

The show is being written by Drive’s Hossein Amini, so there’s still hope that it’s mostly just Ewan McGregor pensively staring into the neon glow of his lightsaber.
