Inauspiciously based on a series of Pepsi Max ads—but isn’t that what they said about The Deer Hunter too?—Uncle Drew sees NBA star Kyrie Irving joined by former basketball greats Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Lisa Leslie, and others, all of them glued into white hair and cheap prosthetics. It’s Bad Grandpa meets the world of street ball (finally?) as the faux elderly go up against some actual youth in Harlem’s Rucker Tournament. And it’s not just the players who are ringers here: we’ve also got some comedy ringers in Get Out standout Lil Rel Howery, Nick Kroll, and the suddenly huge Tiffany Haddish.
Uncle Drew will make us all thirst for its Sprite-based followup when it hits theaters June 29.
