Robert De Niro to take over Shia La Beouf’s role as Shia La Beouf’s dad

At last, the guys who you’re never sure whether they have a space between the capitalized parts of their names shall play father and son—just as La Beouf has basically done himself.

They’ll reportedly play two generations of ex-cons in After Exile, a film Joshua Michael Stern is set to direct from a script by Anthony Thorne and Michael Tovo. It centers on Mike Delaney (LaBeouf), a robber who killed an innocent man in one of his heists. He and his similarly violent, criminal single dad (De Niro) try to save the youngest Stern brother from following the same path.

There remain no plans to turn this into a live-action Batman Beyond that would kind of work.
