Looks like Hellboy’s drubbing was not limited to its critical reception.
Over the weekend, the comic book hero reboot fell well short of both expectations and a couple movies where someone’s age is abruptly changed. Shazam! followed its opening with a second weekend at the top, taking in about $25 million. Little, the latest in the comedy tradition of a career-minded adult learning a life lesson by becoming a teenager for a few days, debuted in second with an estimated $15.5 million. Meanwhile, Hellboy missed its high-teens projections to instead deliver just $12 million, coming in just above Pet Sematary and Dumbo. If only someone had thought to have Hellboy magically transform into a Hellman.
