Finally understanding how most of us feel when we exercise, Dave Bautista is feeling nauseous and ready to quit.
Following the firing of Guardians of the Galaxy writer-director James Gunn over some bad, tasteless old jokes, already his Guardians cast declared their unified support for Gunn’s re-hiring. Yesterday, Bautista gave an update on his feelings about this:
I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel https://t.co/Ym4FwruVDu

(Indeed, it was alt-right and men’s rights personality Mike Cernovich who called out the dated tweets that got Gunn, a vocal anti-Trump leftist, fired.)
Today, Bautista gave a second update clarifying his thoughts and making his position even more clear: if Gunn’s screenplay is thrown out too, he’d rather be re-cast than forced to uphold his contract for the third Guardians.
“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man,” he told The Shortlist. “Where I’m at right now is that if they don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out, or recast me. I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”
Disney still has refused to comment since the initial incident.
