After a few efforts that weren’t bad at all but also weren’t The MF’in Wire, David Simon has returned to his wheelhouse: Baltimore-based crime and police corruption.
Hell yeah.
We Own the City sees Jon Bernthal, Jamie Hector (Marlo Stanfield!), Wunmi Mosaku, Josh Charles, the treat that is Treat Williams, and many more in a six-episode HBO limited series exploring the rise and fall of the Baltimore PD’s Gun Trace Task Force. This is like the David Simon equivalent of the Game of Thrones spin-off, except that The Wire didn’t close on two terrible seasons that made everyone retroactively hate it.
Hell yeah!
We’ll find out whether Punisher can be the new McNulty when We Own This City arrives April 25.
