Dwayne Johnson will play King Kamehameha for Robert Zemeckis

Ever fixated on revising history, Back to the Future and Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis is now making King Kamehameha super ripped. According to Deadline, the director has nabbed Dwayne Johnson to star as the Hawaiian leader in The King. Fittingly written by Braveheart‘s Randall Wallace, the film sees disjointed warring island groups coming to unite under our glamorized leader. It’s said to be a passion project for the part-Polynesian star, who’s called this his dream role at least as early as his The Mummy Returns days of 2001. Johnson is expected to portray this icon of Hawaii and wonderfully fluffy sweet rolls sometime in 2020.
