Hugh Jackman withdraws from a presidential campaign over an affair, if you can believe that, in The Candidate trailer

Time to head all the way back to 1988, when allegations of an extramarital affair were apparently something that could end a dopey-haired U.S. presidential career, with The Front Runner. Hugh Jackman stars as former Colorado senator Gary Hart, the presumed victor of the 1988 Democratic presidential nomination before allegations of a mistress led to his withdrawal from the campaign—contributing to the rise of tabloid journalism and successful presidential run of George Bush before, well… here we are. Way to go, Gary. Jason Reitman directs, with his Up in the Air actress Vera Farmiga co-starring alongside J.K. Simmons, Sara Paxton, Ari Graynor, Bill Burr, Mike Judge, Kevin Pollak, and more. The film hits theaters and on-demand either well- or woefully-timed for the elections this November.
