Dear Evan Hansen, the Broadway smash that finally set teen suicide to catchy tunes, is headed to the big screen. Despite nearing 30, original stage star Ben Platt returns to the title role, with Amy Adams and Julianne Moore freckled in there for some ginger cred. Kaitlyn Dever, Amandla Stenberg, Nik Dodani, and original Broadway actor Colton Ryan also co-star.
The adaptation sees a socially anxious, lonely teen who gets caught up in a growing lie about being the best friend of a classmate who committed suicide. And you’d better believe he sings about it.
Here’s a first look with the Stephen Chbosky film’s official trailer. It’s no Cats, but what is?
