An American History X for a new generation of reformed neo-Nazis—because, Christ, 20 years on and neo-Nazism is somehow even more of an issue now—Skin sees Jamie Bell as a heavily-tattooed white supremacist trying to get his family out of that violent cesspool. Unfortunately for him, skinheads are the multi-level marketing of hate groups: it’s hard to get out, you’re coming out at a huge loss, and all your less gullible friends have already shunned you because of it.
Directed by Guy Nattiv, whose (mostly unrelated) short of the same name won an Oscar, Skin hits theaters July 26.
