Proudly touted as coming from the director of Jackie, Spencer is Pablo Larraín’s latest disyllabic thing where we get a tragic slice of life from the stylish wife of a powerful dynasty. Is this guy pigeonholing himself or what?
Anyway, this one sees Kristen Stewart as Diana, Princess of Wales, inventing a few days that could have happened during a Christmas in 1991 when she decided to end her marriage with Prince Charles. From this trailer, it seems like Jackie in being mostly an actor’s impression reel. And yes, tuning into the ongoing trend that Variety seems to have just discovered, it sure does have a downtempo cover of a popular song!
We will be expected to make a whole to-do about Stewart’s performance but otherwise completely forget this film when it hits theaters November 5.
