Lakeith Stanfield to play Top Chef’s Kwame Onwuachi

Hey, Top Chef watchers, remember Kwame from season 13? Well, it turns out that beyond being a James Beard Award-winning chef who’s worked at some of New York’s finest restaurants, he’s also managed to get a memoir published before he turned 30. Oh, and also now he’s getting a movie made about his life.

THR reports that Sorry To Bother You’s Lakeith Stanfield is set to play the chef in an adaptation of his Notes from a Young Black Chef. The story follows Onwuachi path from a troubled youth in the Bronx, to Nigeria, to cooking for the clean-up crew of Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and into the world of fine dining.

Yet somehow a film about Guy Fieri’s path to Flavortown still eludes us.
