The most redeemable part of the nearly irredeemable Black Adam comes in its closing moments, when it’s revealed that Henry Cavill—a man who couldn’t look more like Superman—will again be Superman.
Hate to break it to you, but that is not actually the case.
As revealed across various social media, Cavill is actually not going to play Superman at any point in the near future.
The news first came from new DC Studios co-lead James Gunn, Gunn saying, “Among [the projects co-lead Peter Safran and I have] on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.”
Cavill has since confirmed as much, saying he had a meeting with Gunn and Safran and will “not be returning as Superman.”
And it’s embarrassing, because Cavill also just posted this video where he says, “I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman.” The guy basically announced his proposal when he was about to be awkwardly broken up with.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
