How cool is it that the hilarious and talented Olivia Colman is now recognized as a massive, in-demand, award-winning talent instead of as Sophie from Peep Show. Because as great as she is in Peep Show, it seems pretty fucking cool. And it looks like Sam Mendes is recognizing that.
Colman is reportedly in talks to star in Mendes’s 1917 followup, Empire of Light. The Mendes-scripted effort is described as a “love story set in and around a beautiful old cinema on the South Coast of England in the 1980s.” It also reunites Mendes with his frequent cinematographer, Roger Deakins, so that cinema is going to look beautiful as hell.
