Patrick Stewart will star in a new Star Trek series

Like William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, George Takei, Michael Dorn, John de Lancie—like quite a few actors, let’s just say—Patrick Stewart is set to reprise his iconic Star Trek role in a follow-up series. As announced by the actor himself, he’s officially attached to headline a new Trek series on CBS’s All Access service. Though there are no less than nine ’80s and ’90s revivals lingering in TV’s creatively neutral zone, it’s said this series is not a Next Generation reboot—though Stewart will of course be playing an aged Jean-Luc Picard, still continuing his mission to seek out new life and keep his own going a bit longer. Maybe find a nice, affordable place to get an early supper.

Star Trek film reboot and Discovery creator Alex Kurtzman is heading up the new project, so adjust your expectations accordingly.
