Leonardo DiCaprio will give us a Facts of Life reboot

The decades-old corpses of Roseanne, Will & Grace, Full House, Alf, Murphy Brown, Mad About You, Clarissa Explains It All, and Frasier are all being propped back up on television, and now an even more thoroughly decomposed sitcom is joining them. Deadline reports that The Facts of Life is the latest series returning to television with a reboot. Ignoring that they should clearly be doing the inevitable Growing Pains and Seventh Heaven reboots, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jessica Biel are among the producers.

A Diff’rent Strokes spin-off that ran from 1979 to 1988, The Facts of Life originally focused on a group of teens and their housemother at an all-female boarding school. It eventually needed an excuse to keep the girls together, leading to them all working for their former housemother as she started her own business; like Roseanne, it also ended up tossing George Clooney into a recurring role.

Sony Pictures Television is currently looking for a writer to take the good, to take the bad, to take them both and then we’ll have: a mediocre Facts of Life.
