Paul W. S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter movie is looking about right

Paul W. S. Anderson is no stranger to going to South African and having wife Milla Jovovich run around—dual-wielding and tucked into some beat-up leather armor. He just did that a couple years ago for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, and now he’s at it again for another Capcom video game property: Monster Hunter. Have a look above with the film’s first production still (via IGN), featuring Jovovich and Tony Jaa hopefully running full-tilt away from this thing.

In the game series, the Monster Hunter‘s premise is simple: you pretty much just run around an area over and over, killing grotesque fauna and harvesting flora to make cool items. There’s scarcely a plot to work from, but don’t worry, because Anderson (also screenwriter) has figured out a terrible angle: making Jovovich an Earth soldier somehow transported to this foreign land of strange monsters.

Sounds like someone finally got around to watching John Carter, eh, Paulie Dubs?
