Peter Dinklage will, by choice, play Rumpelstiltskin

In what definitely feels like a step back in his growing, diverse acting career, Peter Dinklage is going to star in Rumpelstiltskin. According to Variety, Dinklage has made a deal with Sony to play the titular, magical imp in an adaptation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale. It’s the kind of part a little person would seem to be saddled with more than all that excited about (1987’s musical adaptation was the late Billy Barty’s only leading role). But while Dinklage has even outright spoken of eschewing roles like elves and leprechauns, he’s also producing this film, so he apparently sees gold in whatever new take screenwriter Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls) is spinning. Seriously, though, Rumpelstiltskin?
