Sort-of-beloved, sort-of-cult hit The Princess Diaries is getting another sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney has put the film that made Anne Hathaway a breakout star in development to become a full-on trilogy. Reacher and Supergirl writer Aadrita Mukerji is already at work on the script, which is said to be a belated sequel rather than a reboot. Though Hathaway is not yet signed on, she’s previously expressed her interest in continuing the franchise, so a decent story will probably bring her on.
Also helping the film’s chances: it’s been confirmed that Princess Diaries co-star Julie Andrews is, in fact, still alive. She was in Aquaman and Minions: The Rise of Gru! She’s fine, everyone. Stop worrying about Julie Andrews. She can do a Princess Diary, or just live her remaining days out in peace, despite knowing she went out with a Minions sequel. She owes us nothing.
