Well, here’s an excruciatingly relevant one for 2020: The Trial of the Chicago 7, Aaron Sorkin’s new film about the election year protests and subsequent violent police conflicts that led to the 1968 arrest and prosecution of the titular septet. Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Frank Langella, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Jeremy Strong, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Michael Keaton, John Carroll Lynch, and Alex Sharp star.
This thing has been in the works since 2007, with Steven Spielberg originally attached to direct. Shame that it finally arrives now, when the market is already flooded with streaming police riot content.
But hey, if you’re up for a bit more, The Trial of the Chicago 7 hits Netflix October 16.
