Finally willing to accept no net gain from his lead role in worldwide smash Avatar, Sam Worthington is shrinking back to his career circa 2007, when he fought a man-eating crocodile.
He’s reportedly been set to star in Alphas, a creature feature from Final Destination 5 and Into the Storm director Steven Quale. According to the synopsis, Worthington will play an environmentalist tasked with finding a solution to a growing great white shark problem. His solution: how about just toss a bunch of killer whales at them? When a particularly massive, deadly great white emerges to take on the whale pod, Worthington has a similar solution: could we likewise get a larger, deadlier killer whale to toss in there? (Spoiler: they can!) And if that’s not enough, he’s also dealing with “his rebellious sister’s surf competition,” because this is clearly an unused screenplay for a 1995 Baywatch movie.
But he isn’t the only one hitting the shark-ravaged waters.
Zach Braff—who, like Worthington, everyone was fine with never seeing again after his big breakout hit—has also signed on to his own Shark Week. He’s attached to join Paula Patton and Rupert Friend for Tiburon. This thriller reportedly sees “a young family trapped on top of a camper van stranded on a flooded tidal basin within sight of the beach who must decide whether to face down a sadistic fugitive or flee through shark-infested waters.” Time to find out whether the most deadly shark… is man!
